1. Prague’s astronomical clock is a popular site to visit in the center of the city. Every hour, on the hour, the medieval clock’s different parts are set into action for a short show dating back to 1410.
2. After spending so much time in Paris, I was surprised to see that the statues in Prague haven’t been washed within an inch of their lives to keep them bright and white. Instead, the statues on the city’s famous bridges have been blackened by time, displaying just a hint of glinting gold.
3. Pretty much everywhere you go in Prague, you’ll find trdelnik roasting over an open fire. This Prague pastry is usually flavored with cinnamon sugar and is a nice treat to enjoy while wandering in the cold.
4. I was lucky enough to visit Prague just as the Christmas markets were beginning. There were some pretty ingenious techniques in process for getting the lights up on the tree.
5. Visible from within the Jewish Museum is the Old Jewish Cemetery, the largest Jewish Cemetery in Europe. I found its simple headstones in somewhat haphazard arrangement so beautiful.
