It’s insane to me that I have yet to write about Ten Belles. After all, not only does this two-woman team make perhaps my favorite bread in Paris, their coffee shop in the 10th is my favorite place to sit on weekend afternoons and read, work, or people-watch.
I’m going to put it down to the fact that I keep promising myself that I’m going to photograph their toasties and then keep forgetting.
But the toasties – and the coffee, and the cakes – are well worth a post, so I’m going to stop procrastinating and tell you: go here.
Ten Belles offers everything I need in a workspace in Paris: excellent coffee, friendly staff, delicious baked goods, good music, and lots and lots of windows. (Little cafés can get really stuffy. Trust me.)
Have I mentioned the coffee? It’s excellent. I always opt for a strong filter coffee in the winter, but now that the heat wave has arrived in Paris, I’ve transitioned to the equally delicious cold brew.
(Often paired with a slice of lemon cake.)
My favorite seat is up on the mezzanine where, yes, you do have to watch your head…
… but you get prime people-watching real estate.
(And morning bun watching real estate.)
And if this weren’t enough to convince you…
…they have a lending library.
Frankly, I’m not sure how I ever leave.
