1. No matter how long I live in Paris, I find it hard to prefer any neighborhood over Montmartre. It’s just so quaint, so picturesque. And no matter how many times I go there, I always discover something new.
2. I love the way that you can stumble onto new perspectives of monuments, like this shot of Sacré Coeur basilica from behind.
3. I love the way that, perhaps more than any other neighborhood in Paris, Montmartre holds onto its past. La Maison Rose has been on this street corner, bringing color to the area, since the 19th century.
4. I love the way that the neighborhood is such the perfect place to set stories, from 2001’s Amélie to Marcel Aymé’s Le Passe-Muraille, which has been immortalized with one of my favorite statues.
5. And I love the fact that everywhere you turn, if you look closely enough, there’s hidden beauty to discover.
