1. It’s crazy to me, sometimes, how much Paris has changed since I first moved here. Some of the most exciting neighborhoods are ones I never used to have much reason to go to. Case in point: Belleville. Whereas in my first years here, the only times I made the trek out to the 20th was to get really excellent pho, now, Belleville has become an enclave of street artists, spoken word performers, cafés, restaurants, and more.
2. A few streets in particular are perfect for getting a glimpse of this ephemeral art: rue de la Fontaine du Roi, rue Desnoyez.
3. The latter is also home to a hip restaurant with an excellent wine list, le Desnoyez.
4. Some of the art is quite imposing, like this mural, which takes up the entire side of a building.
5. Other times, it’s a little more discreet. I love the way these records adorn the door lining one of the smaller, nearly pedestrian streets.
