1. The tiny French village of Paziols has been the home of my heart for over a decade… and yet somehow, I’ve never visited it any time aside from summer. That all changed, this year.
2. I went down to Paziols to report a story for work, but I took advantage of my time in the South to visit some of my favorite neighboring towns in the off-season. Cucugnan, home to one of my all-time favorite bakers, was sunny and glorious but virtually empty.
3. Which made it even easier to snag shots of some of my favorite details.
4. The gorges de Galamus, a sight I’ve always wanted to visit, was relatively easy to navigate, seeing as I only passed one other car and a few hikers on the usually-packed narrow cliffside road.
5. The village of Toulouges seemed to already be wearing its summer colors.
6. But the season made itself known at the local waterfall, a popular summer swimming spot that was still deserted for the low season.
7. I took long walks through the olive groves, examining where fire devastated some of the ancient trees.
8. And I thought quite a bit about a project I can’t share too much about now – suffice it to say, it’s exciting!
9. I picked wild asparagus.
10. I dug into my neighbor’s delicious roasted pepper salad with garlic and anchovies.
11. And I thought about summer days soon to come.
