1. This glimpse of the early afternoon in fall comes from the Coulée verte. It’s a former railroad line that was reconverted into a green space a few years ago, and it runs right behind our old house; in fact, it was on my way home from the grocery store. Now that we’ve moved, visiting this is more of a treat.
2. When we moved a couple of months ago, we didn’t go very far, but my walk to the métro changed. This used to be the first thing I saw as I started my day: the trees lining the boulevard, signaling the changing of the seasons.
3. Père Lachaise Cemetery is one of my favorite spots to visit in Paris. That might seem a bit macabre, but it’s actually really beautiful, and historical to boot, as it is home to several famous graves. This one’s not all that famous (although it is very close to where Jim Morrison was laid to rest). I like it mainly because it reminds me of the Weeping Angels in Doctor Who.
4. This is the view from one of my favorite drinks spots in Paris, Le Perchoir. Straight ahead is the white stone basilica of Sacré Coeur, at the top of Montmartre.
5. The leaves are changing in the parks of Paris. This is one of our locals, the Parc Montsouris. It’s big enough that when you’re deep in the park, you kind of forget you’re in a big city.
